Hi, guys. I tried to use native steam on my laptop, and I got a usual problem https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art … -EYZB-7457 .
I 'm using bumblebee and I suppose I have mistakes in my lib32 packages. So it would be nice if someone explained what's wrong with it. Tried a lot of suggestions from other threads I might break it by myself=/. So what i have:

  • I am writing a simple game using freeglut and it compiles fine but I can't run it - the program compiles fine AND runs under Windows but in Windows I have to stick the freeglut.dll in the same directory, do I have to do something similar in Linux?

  • Hello,
I'm try to run air application under Arch linux. I have:
    test.air application.
    I installed adobe-air-sdk from aur.
    I try as: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Adobe_AIR
    I make:
    #! /bin/sh
    /opt/adobe-air-sdk/bin/adl -nodebug home/user/test.air/META-INF/AIR/application.xml /opt/airapps/Mpoker.air
    But get error:
    application descriptor not found
On other operation systems are all all right. Anybody runs any air application under arch linux?
    Thank you.

Shouldn't it read '/home/user/test.air/META-INF/AIR/application.xml' with a slash at the beginning?

  • I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode. If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running 'PleaseSleep' application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged 'put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, 'allow power button to put computer to sleep' and 'automatically reduce brigthness'. All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?

Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
    Good luck!

  • Hello everybody,
the last days a tried to get a 32Bit application to run on a Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit machine .. unfortunately with no success. The application runs on XP Pro and Vista Pro 32 Bit machines against a 11g RDBMS for years. As a refenence we use SQLTools from sqltools.net. It has nearly the same behaviour like the application, because it is a 32 bit application too.
First thing was to install a 64 bit environement to verify if the connection is allright.
    - Downloaded instantclient-basic-windows.x64-11.2.0.2.0.zip an instantclient-sqlplus-windows.x64-11.2.0.2.0.zip
    - Unpacked both packages into C:oracle so that they reside in C:oracleinstantclient_11_2
    - Made a directory C:oracletnsnames with tnsnames.ora in it, because the app uses it
    - Set the environement variables TNS_ADMIN to point to C:oracletnsnames and added C:oracleinstantclient_11_2 in front of the path variable
    - Restarted the machine
    - Opened a commnd shell and startet sqlplus user/[email protected]
Everything was allright, I was able to connect to the database as expected
Second thing was to start SQLTools, but as I feard it quitted with an error message when trying to access oci.dll of the instant client.
So i decided to switch to a 32 bit environement as a third thing.
    - Downloaded instantclient-basiclite-nt-11.2.0.2.0.zip and instantclient-sqlplus-nt-11.2.0.2.0.zip
    - Deleted the old C:oracleinstantclient_11_2
    - Unpacked both 32 bit packages into C:oracle so that they reside in C:oracleinstantclient_11_2
    - Didn't change anything in the environement, because nothing changed from the view of the system
    - Opened a commnd shell and startet sqlplus user/[email protected]
But now I wasn't able to connect and got the following error
ORA-28547: connection to server failed, probable Oracle Net admin error
SQLPlus was able to start now, but when trying to connect to the database I got the same error like when connecting with sqlplus.
Does anybopdy have an idea how to manage to get a 32 bit application to run on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine?
    Thanks in advance
    My packages:
    Windows 7 64 bit SP1
Oracle Instant Client basic lite 11.2.0.2.0
    SQLPlus 1.5 22D

Have you tried WOW64 ? I have not used this emulator for sqlplus but it works for other 32 bit applications.

    Assignment 1 (Referred/Deferred) May 2006
    Snooker Scoreboard Application
This assignment is designed to consolidate the knowledge of the Java programming language you have gained in the first half of the course and to develop your skills in using basic Java input/output facilities, designing graphical user interfaces and implementing client-server systems.
    The Application (70 marks)
You will develop a client/server based scoreboard application which will present and log the activity of a snooker match which may comprise a maximum of 15 frames. Your application must be capable of performing the following functions:
    (a) Displaying the current score of each player for the current frame.
    (b) Displaying the break for the player currently at the table.
    (c) Displaying a record of the sequence of balls potted with their values during each break for each player during the current frame.
    (d) Logging, and ultimately storing on a floppy disc in drive A, a record of the sequence of events occurring during a frame. This would include: fouls committed, balls potted with their values and which player potted them for each frame completed. This is intended to provide the definitive record for the frame. Note that, with the exception of player names, match identification and the date, no other information (such as the frame score) should be stored on disc.
    (e) Recalling a frame's record from disc. The application must be able to process the data recalled from disc for any chosen frame and provide the following information:
    i) the frame score and the highest break for each player,
ii) the number of points conceded as fouls by each player,
iii) the number of times each player visited the table,
vi) the number of times each colour ball (not reds or free balls) was
    v) potted in the frame as a whole by each player.
The application must be developed as a client/server system using the loopback address so the client and the server can be run on the same computer.
The client will include the graphical User Interface (GUI) which will facilitate the entry of player names, a method of scoring, a method of displaying all required information and interaction with the server to allow data to be sent to it and recalled from it. See above for detailed requirements.
The server must facilitate the storage to and retrieval from floppy disc of match data and interaction with the client. The server need only be capable of interacting with a single client.
    The Application (continued)
In addition to your report (see next page), you must submit a 3.5 inch virus checked floppy disc (CD's are NOT acceptable) which must contain four folders, described below, and nothing else.
Folder 1: The clientSource folder. Must contain all client source files and nothing else.
Folder 2: The clientClass folder. Must contain all client class files and nothing else.
Folder 3: The serverSource folder. Must contain all server source files and nothing else.
Folder 4: The serverClass folder. Must contain all server class files and nothing else.
Any number of client classes may be developed, but the class containing the client's main method must be called client. Any number of server classes may be developed, but the class containing the server's main method must be called server.
All applications must be executable directly from the command prompt window, without the use of an additional Integrated Development Environment such as Eclipse or JBuilder. You must clearly identify which version of Java you have used to develop your application.
Note that it will not be possible for you to include class files corresponding to source files which do not compile correctly. You must, however, include all of your source files in the appropriate folder regardless of whether or not they compile.
You should place the floppy disc in a small envelope and tape it to the front sheet of your report so that no text on the front sheet is obscured. Do not apply tape to the disc itself.
    Report Submission Details (30 marks)
Your report must contain the following elements:
    (a) a well commented source listing of the application source code (whether functional
or not). Note that sections of code which do not function correctly should be clearly identified by the words 'NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL' and accompanied by a brief hand written explanation of the problem.
    (b) a maximum of four screen shots showing the application in action
    (c) a conclusion, with clearly marked sub-headings, which must include:
    i) a clear statement of the extent of the application's functionality,
ii) a brief explanation of how to use your version of the application,
iii) a description of how you have made the application robust,
iv) any other commentary that you feel is relevant.
Your report must be presented on A4 sheets of paper which must be stapled together at the top left corner to allow access to all of the reports contents without removing the staple.
If your report is too thick to be secured using a staple, punch a hole in the top left corner and bind the pages together with a treasury tag.
Your report must not be submitted in any type of cover or folder.
Your name, my name and the module number must be clearly displayed on the front sheet of your submission.
No other information, designs or motifs should appear on the front sheet.
Note that all the pages of this assignment must be submitted with your report and must immediately follow the front sheet.
Your report must NOT be submitted electronically and must NOT be included on your floppy disc.
Failure to comply with the requested report and floppy disc submission format will result in the allocation of a significantly reduced mark.

    Java Media Framework
    Part 1 Research Topics
The Java Media Framework API (JMF) enables audio, video and other time-based media to be added to applications and applets built on Java technology. This optional package, which can capture, playback, stream, and transcode multiple media formats, extends the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) for multimedia developers by providing a powerful toolkit to develop scalable, cross-platform technology.
The aim of this assignment is to develop the skills required by a network systems developer so that they are able to incorporate standard Java components code into their own projects.

  • 'iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid 32bit application' error received. I'm on dial up (no flames or stupid comments in reference to this please) with Toast using IE9. I've uninstalled, deleted, and restarted my computer after each attempt. I've tried with 32bit and 64bit. I've tried at the local library using their WiFi connection and at home with the dial up. I've tried running program and saving before running both download types. This has been 3 days of work since the 24th all so my son can try and use his iPod Touch. Is there no way of accessing iTunes with the iPod Touch without having it installed on the computer? I'm sick of this and so disgusted with Apple right now. I'm sorry that I'm on dial up, but out where I live, everyone is because there is no reception for phones or satelite. And even coming to town to use the quicker internet here, it still was a 6hour plus download time. And right when I click 'Run', it gives me this error message each time.
My son and my whole family and neighborhood after I've asked everyone's help with this problem has become fed up with Apple cause there is no disc they can mail me to get iTunes onto my computer and no one else we've asked can download it either. One person has the program but its iTunes 7 and they can't upgrade because of dial up. His iPod Touch will not even go to any other screen but the one that shows the plug and iTunes icon on it. I would really appreciate some kind of help from someone cause we are all sick of this, my son is not happy, and this was supposed to be a Christmas present that he could use. I can not even remotely begin to..well, I could fill this page with gripes but I would just really appreciate a knowledgeable answer that I can use to quickly fix this for my son's Christmas. Please help.

Karen, this is far off-topic in a sense. But I have a sister in the wilds of central MI. No access to cable no way. And limited 3G minutes.
She finally opted for MiFi and can get much faster online access. She is able to download to her iTouch, iPad and Mac laptop (3 y.o.) much faster than her old dialup.
It's worth checking if it might help. Hers is Verizon (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobilebroadband/?page=products_mifi)
AT&T also has MiFi (http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/devices/att-mobile-hotspot-mifi-2372. jsp).
There may be others as well.
I am spoiled w/ cable but it's been great for her. If this is out of line or you've explored it to no avail please ignore.
Best wishes and hope these bumps get smoothed out. Hope you have a good New Year and your son's iTouch problems get worked out.

  • We've been using Web Start to deliver one of our products for over 2 months. We're getting about 10 downloads of our application a day which is very good considering we're in a very niche market (mapping applications). However, some customers (about 20%) are having a number of problems with Web Start either during installation or during download. For this reason we had to create a stand alone installer for customers that couldn't get Web Start working or more commonly could get Web Start working but couldn't download our application. The most common problem we see is the 'Unable to load resource' problem. I've attached the different errors and different exceptions sent from a customers site. Can you spread any light on this. Is it to do with Web Start not being able to identify the proxy?
    Many thanks in advance
    Ian

Apologies for the lack of response only I bust my knee a week ago and I've been in agony since. Anyway enough moaning.
Yes users are behind a firewall. From what I can get from Sun the problem stems from JWS's inability to detect script based proxies. This is very frustrating because we have about 25% of our customers that just can't use JWS because of this. Ok so they could type it in manually, however, how many system support people are going to give out those sorts of details to end users, besides most end user don't even know what a proxy is!
To get around this we've provided a standalone installer (which defies the point of JWS in the first place). Don't get me wrong I think JWS is an amazing piece of software, however, I can't see how JWS can be used successful across the internet until this is solved, intranet, extranet fine.
In our experience you can't leave 25% of your customer base behind!

  • Hi All
I need to find out if ADOBE Document Services (ADS) can run on windows server 2008 x64. I know that according to Note 925741, ADS is not supported on a Windows 64 Bit servers but on 32bit servers, meaning you have to install it separately. My question is, since this note details windows server 2003 x64 as not supported by ADS, does this still hold for ADS (NetWeaver EHP1) on windows server 2008 x64 servers (being new and all).
Anyone who can assist, please advice
    Ronny

    Hello,
this is listed in the PAM. http://serivce.sap.com/PAM
But the exact answer is yes, the ADS supports x64 Windows 2008 installation.
    Only IA64 is not supported.
    Best regards,
    Dezso
